School update

What a busy term we’ve had. Lots of new students and, we’re delighted to say, quite a few returners. The truth is, once you let computers into your life, you start to realize how much fun they can be…and in so many different ways.

And that’s why our courses are as varied as ever: Word, Internet and Email, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and, of course, a perennial favourite….Digital Photography.

In fact, we are making a point of focusing on our younger students this August, with our new Young Photographer Summer Courses 2010.

Young Photographer Summer Courses 2010

Every Picture Tells A Story

We are launching our Young Photographer 2010 Exhibition this August with the theme The Beach.

The exhibition is preceded by 4 three-day photography courses spanning two age groups:

The Courses

Day 1 9.30 – 12.30

Taking photos
includes discussing themes, looking at other photographers’ work and completing a photographic assignment on Portobello Beach

Day 2 9.30 – 12.30

Learning editing techniques
includes downloading and filing photos, using an online editing program to crop, straighten, adjust colour & light, use text and create collages

Day 3 9.30 – 12.30

Creating a perfect photo
includes applying the techniques learned over the previous 2 days to create final photos for the exhibition

The Exhibition and Competition

After the completion of the courses there will be an exhibition of student photographs, where a panel of judges (connected to The Arts and Photography sector locally) will determine a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for both age groups. The prizes will involve further courses with The Potten Computer School and/or vouchers from sponsors or 3rd party affiliates.

Summer Holidays

We will be taking a break from teaching between July 4th and August 2nd. However, we will still be taking bookings for Summer School throughout July.
